About this course

The course explores portraiture through monotype, a printmaking process that combines aspects of drawing and painting. Participants work from a model while investigating how these approaches can be used together in image-making. The course is suitable for artists, creatives and image-makers at different levels, including those beginning to explore the subject.

Is this course right for you?

The course is intended for artists, creatives and image-makers of all levels, with beginners explicitly welcome. Participation centres on working from a model and exploring the relationship between drawing, painting and monotype printing.

Before you go

• Easels, drawing boards, charcoal, newsprint and masking tape are provided in the studio.
• Cartridge and watercolour paper are provided.
• Participants are encouraged to bring additional personal materials, such as drawing pencils, Conté crayons, pastels, ink pens, coloured pencils, putty and hard erasers, a pencil sharpener and a sketchbook.
• A suggested materials list is provided before the course.
