About this course

The course develops spoken Portuguese through group work and role-plays focused on everyday situations, including ordering food, discussing routines and hobbies, telling the time, and handling invitations and opinions. Lessons also cover grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation, with the teacher using Portuguese throughout to support listening and comprehension. Language work includes regular and reflexive verbs, irregular verbs, time expressions, frequency adverbs and formal uses of “queria”. Participants also examine dietary habits, daily routines and typical dishes from Portuguese-speaking countries.

What you'll learn

• Handle restaurant situations by understanding a menu and ordering food.
• Discuss daily routines, eating habits and hobbies, including asking relevant questions.
• Tell and ask for the time using language for hours, days and parts of the day.
• Form sentences with regular -IR verbs, reflexive verbs and selected irregular verbs in the present indicative.
• Use invitations, opinions, frequency expressions and formal requests in appropriate contexts.

Is this course right for you?

This course is intended for learners at Elementary (A2) level who have previously studied Portuguese Level 2 or completed at least 24 class hours. Participation centres on spoken communication, group work and role-plays, alongside structured language study and listening in Portuguese.

• Previous Portuguese study is required: Level 2 or a course of at least 24 class hours.
• The course uses frequent group activities and role-plays.
• The teacher speaks Portuguese throughout the lessons.

• The required coursebook, Portugues a Valer A1, must be purchased after the first lesson.
