What Elementary (A2) Portuguese means

At A2 Portuguese, learners can handle simple routine exchanges and describe familiar aspects of everyday life.

    Normalmente vou de autocarro para o trabalho e chego a casa às seis.

    I normally go to work by bus and return home at six.

    Queres ir ao cinema no sábado à tarde?

    Would you like to go to the cinema on Saturday afternoon?

  • Talk about the recent past

    Ontem jantei com amigos e depois fomos dar um passeio.

    Yesterday I had dinner with friends and then we went for a walk.

About this course

The course focuses on communication around festive occasions, including making invitations, expressing wishes, describing celebrations and presenting traditions from Portuguese-speaking countries. Learners also practise writing messages and discuss associated dishes, habits and cultural symbols. Lessons combine spoken activities with systematic language work, covering grammar such as the present indicative, imperative, indefinite forms and temporal markers, alongside vocabulary, synonyms, antonyms and pronunciation. Group tasks and role-plays support oral practice, while the teacher uses Portuguese throughout to develop listening and comprehension.

Is this course right for you?

This course is intended for Elementary learners who are already studying Portuguese. The stated entry route is completion of Portuguese Level 6 or at least 72 class hours, so it is not aimed at complete beginners. Participation includes spoken group work and role-plays, with the teacher speaking Portuguese throughout.
