Power BI: introduction

About this course

The course introduces Power BI through demonstrations of its main features, followed by guided individual work. Participants will import data from sources such as Excel files and the web, transform it with Power Query, and create dynamic reports and interactive dashboards. The course also covers connecting to real-time data sources, analysing live metrics, and sharing completed reports and dashboards. A practical project provides an opportunity to apply these techniques by producing an original Power BI report and dashboard.

Is this course right for you?

The course is aimed at beginners and combines demonstrations with guided project work. Previous Excel experience may be useful but is not compulsory. Teaching takes place during class, with no work required outside the sessions.

Before you go

• Power BI Desktop works on Windows only and is not currently supported on macOS.
• Computers with the required installations are provided.
• A pen and paper may be brought for taking notes.
• Full-course attendees receive an electronic City Lit certificate of attendance.
