Preparing for Functional Skills Maths (level 1)

About this course

The course begins with a review of learners’ current maths skills and the setting of personal learning goals. It then develops understanding of numbers, fractions, decimals, percentages and measurement through simple activities and everyday examples. Learners practise applying maths to tasks involving money, time, costs, timetables and comparing measurements. Teaching is tutor-supported, with activities designed to accommodate learners working at their own pace. The course also helps learners consider whether to progress to the Functional Skills Maths Level 1 qualification or another suitable course.
