Print finishing studio workshop

About this course

Participants use dedicated studio time to develop existing printmaking projects, refine techniques and work towards a finished series or portfolio. Sessions combine demonstrations, presentations, guided exercises and independent project work, with flexible one-to-one guidance shaped around individual goals. The course includes work with etching equipment and opportunities to review progress informally, identify improvements and prepare prints for presentation. Learners set personal aims with the tutor, and there is no formal assessment or required work between sessions.

This course is for adults aged 19 or over who have some prior experience in printmaking or a related subject. It is intended for learners who can work independently with basic techniques and safe studio practice, while using tutor guidance to develop existing projects.

Before you go

• Basic materials are provided at the start, including an A5 metal plate for learning techniques.
• The studio provides etching presses, specialist tools and required personal protective equipment.
• Additional plates, papers or tools may be purchased through the college at cost price.
• Some processes use solvents, with safety equipment provided.
