Printmaking for beginners

About this course

The course provides an introduction to three printmaking processes: monoprinting, relief printing through linocut, and intaglio printing through etching. Participants will make prints, cut and print a lino block, etch a metal plate and print from it. Teaching combines demonstrations with individual application of the techniques. The course also covers the safe use of presses, related equipment and materials, giving participants an overview of processes that can be explored further on longer courses.

Is this course right for you?

This beginner-level course is intended for learners seeking an initial overview of several printmaking techniques through short practical sessions. Basic drawing skills would be an advantage. Participants should be able to follow written and spoken English instructions, take brief notes and make simple ruler measurements.
