About this course

Participants explore how image, text and folded form interact within an artists’ book. The course covers three printmaking techniques alongside a range of book structures, with projects developing through composition, sequence, narrative, space and structure. Teaching combines group demonstrations, individual tutorials and discussion, with bookbinding demonstrations adapted to participants’ requirements. Learners are encouraged to develop their own ideas and may use relevant printmaking and book arts literature to inform their work.

What you'll learn

  • Select suitable materials and processes for creating book content
  • Construct models using different book arts structures
  • Apply printmaking and bookbinding techniques
  • Use printed and folded forms to investigate narrative and composition
  • Relate a book’s structure to its contents
