About this course
The course introduces Procreate’s workspace and core features through practical drawing tasks focused on line, colour, texture, composition and lighting effects. Learners create and manage files, use brushes for digital painting, build colour palettes, work with layers and layer masks, and edit images. Teaching combines presentations, demonstrations, practical work, individual and group tutoring, and discussion. Learners are also encouraged to reflect on their own artwork, with extension activities potentially set for work outside class.

Is this course right for you?
The course is intended for learners developing their Procreate skills, including those new to the software and those with some previous experience. Basic illustration knowledge is described as desirable. Participation includes practical tasks, demonstrations, group discussion and individual tutoring.
- Suitable for learners new to Procreate as well as those with some experience
- Basic illustration skills are desirable rather than stated as a formal requirement
- Learners should be able to follow written and spoken instructions and take part in group discussions
- Additional practice activities may be set for completion outside class
Before you go
- Learners must bring their own iPad with Procreate installed; an Apple Pencil or similar stylus is recommended.
- Basic materials and resources are available as part of the course.
- A5 or A4 sketchbook is advised for recording ideas.
- An A3 folder and/or USB drive is advised for transporting work.
- Any additional materials needed will be discussed during the course.
