Product Design Short Course
A beginner product design course using briefs, drawing and design development to take ideas from initial concept to a product design and presentation.
About this course
The course examines how form, function and material inform product design. Participants respond to tutor-set briefs, use drawing exercises, sketches and photographs to represent and document ideas, and develop a design from an initial brief through to presentation. Teaching includes tutor presentations and introduces processes and vocabulary used in 3D design. The emphasis is on idea generation, design thinking and self-directed development rather than workshop production. Some soft model-making is included, but the course is studio-based and available online or on campus.
