About this course

Participants will develop pieced and patched blocks using the cathedral window technique, considering how pattern, plain fabrics, texture and colour contribute to an art quilt. The course includes a visual presentation, examples of contemporary and historical quilts, tutor demonstrations, samples, group discussion and individual tuition. Practical sessions cover construction, decoration and hand and machine stitch methods, with opportunities to research design ideas and experiment with a quilted panel, small quilt or the beginning of a larger project.

  • Construct pieced and patched blocks with the cathedral window technique.
  • Apply hand and machine stitch methods to quilt construction and decoration.
