Recorders Orchestra

About this course

Participants rehearse and perform Italian and German ensemble music from the Renaissance and Baroque periods, working with other recorder players in an orchestra setting. More experienced players may work with different recorder sizes. The course focuses on ensemble musicianship, including listening, intonation, timing, sight-reading and maintaining an individual part within the group.

Is this course right for you?

The course is intended for intermediate recorder players and is not aimed at complete beginners. It suits players with at least two years of recorder experience who can read music, keep time and participate in ensemble playing.

• At least two years of recorder playing is expected.
• Music-reading and good time-keeping skills are required.
• Learners need to prepare activities outside class and attend punctually.

Before you go

• Bring recorder(s) tuned to 440 Hz, a pencil and a notebook.
• The course requires study or completion of activities outside class time.
• Excellent attendance and punctuality are required.
