About this course

The course examines the development of the Thatcher governments across three periods, considering economic and social policy alongside relations with Europe, the Poll Tax and Thatcher’s downfall. It also explores whether Thatcherism represented a revolution or a continuation of earlier political trends, and assesses its significance and legacy. Teaching combines tutor presentation, analysis of contemporary sources and class discussion, with learners encouraged to contribute to debate.
