About this course
The course uses three technical projects to introduce core jewellery-making processes. Participants cut metal with a jeweller’s saw, shape ring blanks, solder joins with a small flame, and refine surfaces using files and emery before polishing. They make two stacking rings, incorporating texturing into one and creating a setting for a semi-precious cabochon stone in the other. The work provides an introduction to ring construction and basic stone setting, with further development towards setting faceted stones.
What you'll learn

- Solder ring components together using a jeweller’s torch
- Refine and polish metal surfaces with files, emery and polishing equipment
