About this course

Classes use jazz tunes as a basis for developing improvisation, accompaniment and performance skills. Participants explore chord inversions, voicings, progressions, scales, arpeggios, melodic patterns and rhythmic application, alongside advanced music theory. The course also examines influential jazz guitarists, performances and styles, with transcription from recordings used to develop aural skills. Practical work includes building a personal repertoire and a constructive practice routine. Learners may also have opportunities to join Saturday jam sessions or perform at student concerts.
