Salsa Classes - Improvers 1

About this course

The course revisits salsa steps, moves, rhythm and musicality while extending learners’ solo footwork and shines. Teaching includes warm-up work, partner exercises and feedback, with attention to the distinct roles of leading and following and how partners communicate through timing, touch and body movement. Learners practise partner-work combinations including cross body turn, checks in cross body lead, Titanic, Caresse, flicks and open break. The course develops the material from beginner-level salsa and includes opportunities to work with different partners.

• Apply fundamental leading and following signals in partner dancing.
• Expand solo shines and footwork through warm-up exercises.

Is this course right for you?

The course is intended for learners who have completed a beginner salsa course or have equivalent salsa experience. Participation includes both individual footwork and partnered practice, with learners able to work as leaders, followers or both.

• Previous beginner-level salsa study or equivalent experience is required.
• Learners can participate without bringing a partner.
• The course accommodates both leading and following roles.

• The course may be repeated before progressing to the next level.
