Sashiko Inspired Visible Mending for Denim with Sewing Smith

An all-level workshop teaching Sashiko-inspired visible mending techniques for repairing and decorating denim.
About this course
Participants explore Sashiko-inspired stitching as a way to strengthen and visibly repair worn fabric. The workshop covers patching denim with fabric scraps, using dissolvable fabric printed with Sashiko motifs, and working from simple running stitches towards more complex patterns. Instruction focuses on adapting traditional Japanese mending techniques for contemporary garment repair. Learners work on their own worn denim or workwear, developing repairs that combine structural reinforcement with decorative stitching.
