Saturday Etching (Weeks 1 – 5)

About this course

This course introduces learners to etching alongside collograph and monoprint processes. Participants work in an equipped intaglio print room, using the facilities to explore these printmaking methods through their own ideas and source material. It is structured as a shorter introduction or refresher for learners who want to study printmaking outside the weekday classes.

Before you go

• An intaglio print room is provided for working with etching, collograph and monoprint.
• Learners should wear an apron or old clothes.
• Bring ideas and source material, basic drawing materials, an eraser and a nylon sable-type brush in sizes 2 to 6.
• Dry point or etching needles, a burnisher, magnifying glass and scraper are optional.
• Plates and paper can be bought in the print room. Further material lists are provided before the course begins.
