About this course
The course develops saxophone technique through work on embouchure, breath control, tonguing, note selection and listening while playing. Learners study relevant theory, read saxophone music and use practice methods including long notes, scales and studies. Teaching is based on tutor demonstration, with learners playing in unison and in simple part work. Repertoire includes popular styles, alongside introductory improvisation and opportunities to play short phrases within group arrangements.

Is this course right for you?
This improver-level course is intended for alto or tenor saxophone players who have around four months’ experience and some ability to read and count music. Participation includes playing together, simple part work and regular practice between classes.
- Regular practice between classes is expected, for around 20 minutes on at least four days each week
- Learners work both in unison and within simple group arrangements
