About this course
The course develops saxophone technique and musicianship through work in all 12 major and minor keys, jazz styles, tune memorisation and repertoire building. Regular sessions include solo and ensemble playing, improvisation, technical practice and the use of reference recordings and play-along tracks. Learners are encouraged to create exercises and share effective practice methods. The course also addresses tone, musical understanding and planning independent practice.

Is this course right for you?
This course is intended for improver-level saxophonists developing beyond fundamental techniques. It is suited to learners who have completed Sax 4A or can demonstrate equivalent instrumental and musical experience. Participants should be able to play major and relative minor scales and arpeggios, keep time, and read music in common time signatures. The class involves individual preparation, solo playing and ensemble work.
- Some experience with the VI-II-V-I sequence is desirable
- Weekly technical practice and study-tune preparation are expected
- New learners may join if they have equivalent experience
