About this course
The course develops familiarity with sewing-machine parts, threading and bobbin winding, needle and thread selection, and basic presser-foot attachments. Learners practise seams and finishes used in garment construction through demonstrations, verbal explanations and individual work. Teaching combines tutor guidance, one-to-one advice, group questions and peer discussion. Hand-outs, tutor feedback and end-of-course self-assessment support the review of practical work.

Before you go
- Participants need to bring a notebook, pencils and a pen.
- Participants need to bring small pieces of fabric for sampling, fabric shears, sewing thread, small sharp-pointed scissors, a stitch ripper or quick-unpick, fine steel pins, a metric tape measure and tailor's chalk.
