About this course
The course develops foundational sewing skills through a sequence of demonstrations, workshop practice, discussions and one-to-one guidance. Participants learn to operate a sewing machine and apply techniques used in constructing basic garments, including making seams, inserting interfacing, hemming, cutting and pressing. Work progresses towards a pair of elasticated trousers, alongside the creation and finishing of sewing samples for future reference. Additional extension activities may be suggested for completion outside class, with relevant guidance provided during sessions.

Is this course right for you?
The course is intended for beginners and learners coming from introductory sewing courses. Participants should be able to follow simple written and verbal instructions, understand health and safety information, and use basic measurements and calculations. Teaching combines individual machine use with workshop practice, group discussion and one-to-one guidance.
