About this course

The course introduces the history and development of Shibori alongside practical work with stitching, binding and fabric dyeing. Participants create patterned textiles using a pre-prepared vat, then unpick their work to reveal the results. Teaching combines explanation, demonstrations and hands-on practice, with feedback during the process. Sample pieces are developed for possible future projects such as cushion covers and tote bags, while a range of traditional Japanese patterns provides a focus for experimentation.
