About this course

Participants begin by learning to use the industrial machines involved in boot construction, alongside the relationship between foot anatomy, sizing and fit. They select from contemporary last and heel options, with a choice of a men's or women's Chelsea boot or a women's high-leg zipped boot. The course then covers pattern creation, cutting and sectionalising pattern pieces, identifying upper materials, and hand-cutting techniques. Demonstrations introduce shaping, forming and stitching methods used to assemble the finished boots.

The course is intended for anyone interested in shoemaking and explicitly requires no previous experience. Participants work through the stages of making a pair of boots, from selecting a style and developing its pattern to cutting and construction.
