Silver Clay (1 Day)

About this course

Participants explore the properties and possibilities of silver clay while learning to make even sheets, cut and join components, form shapes, and add surface texture. The course also introduces simple mould-making for replicating objects and organic materials, along with incorporating fireable stones. Teaching covers drying, refining, blow-torch firing, finishing and polishing. Participants make at least two jewellery pieces, such as earrings, pendants or charms, through group instruction with individual one-to-one support.

The course is intended for learners new to working with metal clay as well as experienced jewellers wishing to experiment with further techniques. Participation combines group teaching with individual one-to-one support while making jewellery pieces.

Before you go

• All tools, consumables and silver clay are provided.
• Additional silver clay for larger or extra pieces may be available to buy at cost price.
• Participants may bring small objects or models to recreate, along with flat patterned fabrics or paper, if desired.
• Closed shoes are required.
• Glasses should be brought if needed for close work.
