About this course

The course introduces core jewellery-making processes through tutor demonstrations, supporting handouts and individual practice. Beginners explore techniques including piercing, filing, drilling, texturing, annealing, forming, soldering and polishing. Learners with previous experience can use individual projects to extend existing skills and develop new techniques. Teaching combines group guidance with one-to-one support as participants work through their projects.

Before you go

  • All tools and equipment needed for jewellery making are supplied.
  • Materials for the first session are provided; participants need to supply their own metal and sundries such as saw blades afterwards.
  • The tutor will advise on required materials and where to obtain them during the first session.
  • A sketchbook is encouraged for notes, handouts, images and designs.
  • Closed shoes must be worn for health and safety reasons.
