About this course
Sessions combine vocal warm-ups, breathing exercises and song work with musicianship activities that develop aural awareness, rhythm and familiarity with notation. Repertoire may include classical, folk, pop and musical theatre, with harmony introduced in some songs. Teaching moves between whole-group singing, smaller groups, pairs and individual attempts, with and without accompaniment. Participants also explore posture, efficient breathing and basic aspects of how the voice works. Tutor guidance supports practice between sessions, with course materials available through Google Classroom.
What you'll learn
- Use suitable posture and basic breathing techniques for singing.
- Explain basic aspects of how the voice works.
- Demonstrate improved rhythmic and aural awareness.
