Singing: find your own voice

About this course

Participants develop a healthy vocal routine through warm-ups, vocal exercises and technique work linked to selected songs. Repertoire spans Pop, Rock, Blues, Art Song, Folk, Soul and Jazz, providing opportunities to explore style and interpretation. Teaching combines practical activities, group music-making, demonstrations, listening and analysis, discussion, online materials and individual practice. Learners receive verbal and written feedback through ongoing practical assessment, with opportunities to perform songs in class either solo or as part of a group.

Is this course right for you?

The course is aimed at beginners and learners with a little singing experience. Participation includes practical exercises, group music-making, listening and discussion, as well as performing either individually or with others.

• Includes both solo and group performance in class.
• Some practice between sessions is recommended, although there is no homework.

Before you go

• Bring a bottle of water and something to take notes.
• Audio recording with a personal device is permitted, but video recording is not allowed.
• Learners are expected to complete an Individual Learning Plan.
• Access support and assistive equipment may be available through reasonable adjustments, subject to an assessment of needs.
