Sketch-Up for Designers

About this course

Participants learn to build and edit 3D models in SketchUp, working with layers, components, groups and repeated elements. The course covers core operations including extruding, subtracting and scaling, alongside drawing walls, floors and stairs. Further topics include importing CAD files, creating and modifying scenes, and exporting movies. Teaching combines step-by-step guidance, real-world examples, individual tasks, tutor feedback and group discussions. A personal learning plan is also created during the course.

Is this course right for you?

The course is designed for beginners and is open to learners at all levels, with no previous SketchUp knowledge needed. Participants should be comfortable with file management and have clear English comprehension to at least level 1. Learning takes place online through individual tasks, tutor feedback and group discussions.

Before you go

• A SketchUp Studio 2023 Student annual subscription is required. Enrolled learners receive a learning agreement letter to obtain a discounted student subscription.
• A good broadband connection is required for online learning.
• The stated hardware requirements are a 1 GHz processor, 4GB of RAM, 1.5GB of available hard-disk space and a modern GPU with at least 512MB of memory that supports hardware acceleration.
• Video card drivers must support OpenGL 3.1 and be up to date.
• Supported operating systems are Windows 10 or 11, and MacOS 12 or later, excluding MacOS 15. A secondary screen is advisable.
