About this course
The course develops sketching through outdoor drawing exercises in the local area, including studies of people, animals, nature and landscape. Participants explore perspective, depth of field, colour and line while working with ink, mixed media and watercolour as well as pencil. Teaching combines practical exercises, tutor demonstrations, individual verbal feedback and informal group critiques. Each learner also creates a Personal Learning Plan to set goals and review progress, with additional techniques and resources shared during the course.

Is this course right for you?
This Improver-level course is intended for learners who already have some knowledge of art materials, tools and techniques. Sessions take place outdoors and require walking unaided to local locations. Participation includes individual work, tutor feedback and informal group critiques. Learners must be aged 19 or over.

Before you go
- Learners must bring their own sketchbook and drawing materials.
- Suggested materials include ink fineliners and pens, a travel watercolour set and a brush.
- The tutor will advise on any additional course materials.
