About this course
Participants develop a short film from initial idea to finished edit. Practical work covers storytelling, storyboarding, shot types, smartphone camera techniques and editing with smartphone apps. Tutor-led introductions to new techniques are followed by exercises completed individually or in small groups. Sessions also include opportunities to watch and discuss the work produced. The course culminates in planning, filming and editing an individual short film project for online sharing.

The course is designed for complete beginners, with no previous experience required. Participation includes practical group work, with learners acting as cast and crew in one another’s films, so they should be comfortable appearing on camera. Regular attendance is recommended because sessions build on one another.

- Bring a charger, headphones, pens or pencils, and a notepad.
- Free editing apps will be used, with guidance provided on downloading and using them.
