What Pre-intermediate (A2+) Spanish means

At A2+ Spanish, learners can connect simple sentences, give reasons and manage a wider range of familiar situations.

  • Explain a preference

Prefiero viajar en tren porque es más cómodo y puedo leer.

I prefer travelling by train because it is more comfortable and I can read.

  • Handle a small problem

La habitación está muy fría. ¿Podrían revisar la calefacción?

The room is very cold. Could you check the heating?

  • Describe an experience

El año pasado visité Sevilla y me encantó la arquitectura.

Last year I visited Seville and loved the architecture.

These are general examples of language use at this level, not a description of any individual course syllabus.

About this course

The course develops communication for situations involving invitations, gifts, good news, occasions and events. Learners practise discussing past experiences and telling anecdotes, while exploring social conventions, fiestas and La Semana Santa in Spanish-speaking countries. Teaching centres on spoken interaction through pair and group work, role plays and games, supported by presentations, hand-outs and audio-visual material. Short reading activities introduce aspects of Spanish-speaking cultures, and homework is recommended to consolidate classroom learning.

What you'll learn

  • Invite someone to do something and respond to invitations
  • React appropriately to different kinds of news
  • Describe past experiences
  • Tell an anecdote in Spanish
  • Read short texts about Spanish-speaking cultures
