About this course
The course examines how Semana Santa is observed in Andalusia, including its rituals, processions, saetas, religious context, important events and typical food. Learners will develop vocabulary and common expressions connected with the celebrations while discussing their cultural significance and the sequence of the week’s events. Teaching is primarily presentation-based, with spoken interaction and learner participation encouraged. Presentations, handouts and audio-visual materials are used to support discussion and language practice.

Is this course right for you?
The course is intended for learners with upper-intermediate to advanced Spanish, corresponding to B2 and above, and is conducted mainly through spoken interaction. Participation in discussions is strongly encouraged, although the teaching is more presentation-based. No prior knowledge of Easter traditions or Spanish society is required.
- A recent background of around five years of Spanish study is recommended
