About this course
The course examines Spanish paintings and sculptures from the Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque periods, considering their artistic innovations and connections with earlier styles and wider European art. Learners analyse selected works found in London museums and galleries while developing Spanish vocabulary for discussing art and artistic representation. Teaching centres on spoken interaction, with pair and group work, role plays, games, presentations, hand-outs and audio-visual resources. The course also includes a visit to the National Gallery, and homework is recommended to consolidate learning.

The course is intended for learners with advanced knowledge of Spanish, described as a minimum of five years' recent study. It uses spoken interaction alongside pair and group activities, role plays and games. Previous knowledge of Spanish or South American art is not required.
