What Advanced (C1+) Spanish means

At C1+ Spanish, learners can express complex ideas precisely, understand nuance and adapt their language to different contexts.

  • Qualify an argument

Si bien el argumento resulta convincente en términos generales, pasa por alto varias consecuencias imprevistas.

While the argument is broadly convincing, it overlooks several unintended consequences.

  • Convey nuance

No me opongo a la propuesta en sí; lo que cuestiono es la forma precipitada de aplicarla.

I do not oppose the proposal itself; what I question is the rushed way it is being implemented.

  • Adapt your register

Le agradecería que reconsiderara la decisión a la luz de la información adicional adjunta.

I would be grateful if you would reconsider the decision in light of the additional information attached.

These are general examples of language use at this level, not a description of any individual course syllabus.

About this course

This course examines Spanish paintings and sculptures associated with Romanticism, Post-impressionism, Cubism and Surrealism, tracing artistic changes from the 19th century to the mid-20th century and considering their relationship to wider European art. Learners analyse selected artworks, compare artistic styles and practise discussing art in Spanish, with a gallery visit forming part of the course.
