What Pre-intermediate (A2+) Spanish means

At A2+ Spanish, learners can connect simple sentences, give reasons and manage a wider range of familiar situations.

I prefer travelling by train because it is more comfortable and I can read.

  • Handle a small problem

The room is very cold. Could you check the heating?

  • Describe an experience

El año pasado visité Sevilla y me encantó la arquitectura.

These are general examples of language use at this level, not a description of any individual course syllabus.

About this course

Participants practise using Spanish in situations involving directions, arrangements, delays, problems and workplace issues. Activities focus on explaining events clearly, responding to difficulties and taking part in longer spoken exchanges. The course also develops past-time grammar, including the imperfecto, the indefinido and the contrast between them. Learners use these tenses together to describe habits, past circumstances and what happened in particular situations.

What you'll learn

  • Describe past habits and circumstances using the imperfecto
  • Contrast the imperfecto and indefinido in context
  • Explain problems, delays and other events in everyday or workplace situations
  • Make and change arrangements through spoken interaction
  • Sustain longer conversations using previously studied tenses

Is this course right for you?

The course is labelled Pre-intermediate 3 (A2+), suggesting it is intended for learners developing beyond foundational Spanish. Participation centres on spoken interaction, including longer conversations and communication about everyday and workplace situations.
