What Intermediate (B1) Spanish means

At B1 Spanish, learners can deal with most everyday situations and explain experiences, opinions and plans in connected language.

  • Express an opinion

    Creo que trabajar desde casa es útil, aunque a veces puede resultar solitario.

    I think working from home is useful, although it can sometimes feel lonely.

  • Explain a plan

    Quiero mejorar mi español para poder trabajar en el extranjero el próximo año.

    I want to improve my Spanish so I can work abroad next year.

  • Tell a short story

    Íbamos hacia la playa cuando empezó a llover, así que cambiamos de planes.

    We were heading to the beach when it started raining, so we changed our plans.

About this course

The course develops Spanish communication beyond description, with activities centred on explaining decisions, giving advice, suggesting alternatives and responding to other people’s ideas. Learners take part in more detailed conversations about everyday and workplace situations, while exploring Spanish-speaking cultures through film, music, media and contemporary life. Language work includes the futuro perfecto for expressing probability and the condicional for making polite requests and discussing possibilities.
