About this course

The course introduces Spanish through everyday communication, including greetings, self-introductions, questions, personal information, intentions and explanations of motivations. Learners also discuss languages, work, leisure activities and their relationship with Spanish and Spanish culture. Lessons combine spoken group activities and role-plays with structured work on grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. The teacher uses Spanish throughout, giving learners practice in comprehension and listening. Topics include personal pronouns, articles, gender, regular present-tense verbs, and the uses of por, para and porque.

Is this course right for you?

This course is designed for complete beginners who have never studied Spanish. The Beginner (A1) label indicates an introductory level. Participation includes spoken communication, group work and role-plays, alongside structured language study.

Before you go

• The required coursebook is Aula Internacional Plus: Libro del alumno + MP3 descargable 1 (A1), covering Units 0, 1 and 2.
• The coursebook should be purchased after the first lesson and is available from reception on the day of the second lesson.
• Learners receive access to an online platform with lesson summaries, notes and resources, as well as Spanish study tips and teacher support.
