About this course

The course develops spoken Spanish through group activities and role-plays, with the teacher speaking Spanish throughout to provide listening and comprehension practice. Lessons also include structured work on grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. Topics include describing neighbourhoods and towns, giving directions, using travel timetables, making hotel bookings and complaints, and asking for information. Language work covers quantifiers, prepositions and adverbs of place, alongside vocabulary for transport, facilities, landmarks, events and Spanish-speaking cities.

What you'll learn

• Discuss neighbourhoods, towns and cities, including what makes a place appealing.
• Ask for and give directions using relevant prepositions and adverbs of place.
• Understand travel timetables and request information in a tourist office.
• Book a hotel room and make a complaint about a service.
• Use vocabulary for transport, facilities, landmarks, events and accommodation.
• Apply Spanish quantifiers such as algún, ningún and mucho.

Is this course right for you?

This course is intended for Elementary learners who have already studied Spanish Level 4 or completed at least 48 class hours. The format involves regular spoken communication, group work and role-plays, with Spanish used by the teacher throughout.

• Previous Spanish study is required.
• Learners take part in collaborative speaking activities and role-plays.
• The course covers listening and comprehension as well as grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation.

Before you go

• The required coursebook is Aula Internacional Plus: Libro del alumno + MP3 descargable 1 (A1), Unit 8. It should be purchased after the first lesson and is available from reception on the day of the second lesson.
