About this course

This communicative course uses contemporary affairs, cultural issues and topics related to Spanish-speaking countries as a basis for spoken interaction. Learners take part in debates, discussions and presentations, supported by reading for gist, authentic audio, video clips and work on grammar and syntax in context. A short literary text is also studied through guided analysis and commentary. The course is mainly delivered online, with collaborative tasks completed in pairs, groups or plenary sessions. Preparatory reading and listening make space for follow-up discussion, vocabulary work, pronunciation and intonation practice. Tutor feedback is combined with self-correction and pair correction.

The course is intended for intermediate Spanish learners who can manage everyday situations, discuss familiar matters and describe events using past tenses. Learners are expected to participate actively in discussions and collaborative tasks, with preparation before online lessons. The B1 label indicates a developing ability to communicate beyond basic exchanges.
