What Elementary (A2) Spanish means

At A2 Spanish, learners can handle simple routine exchanges and describe familiar aspects of everyday life.

  • Describe your routine

Normalmente voy al trabajo en autobús y vuelvo a casa a las seis.

I normally go to work by bus and return home at six.

  • Make a simple plan

¿Quieres ir al cine el sábado por la tarde?

Would you like to go to the cinema on Saturday afternoon?

  • Talk about the recent past

Ayer cené con unos amigos y después dimos un paseo.

Yesterday I had dinner with friends and then we went for a walk.

These are general examples of language use at this level, not a description of any individual course syllabus.

About this course

The course combines Spanish pronunciation work with an exploration of cultural differences across Spain and other Spanish-speaking countries. Learners practise vowel sounds, the Spanish “r”, intonation and phrase flow through selected songs, while considering how regional geography and history shape language, monuments and gastronomy. Teaching and explanations are in English, with song translations provided where needed. Classwork includes oral pronunciation activities in pairs and small groups, alongside opportunities to sing complete songs, although singing is not required.

What you'll learn

  • Pronounce Spanish sounds and words more accurately
  • Apply Spanish intonation and phrase flow in spoken or sung language
  • Recognise spoken and sung Spanish words more easily
  • Distinguish cultural expressions associated with different Spanish regions and countries

Is this course right for you?
