About this course

Learners design and make stained glass leaded-light panels, beginning with pattern development and progressing through glass cutting, shaping, leading and soldering. Beginners practise the full process on a small panel before developing a second design, while more experienced participants work on their own panel ideas with guidance on extending their techniques. Teaching combines demonstrations with practical work, supported by group instruction and one-to-one guidance at different stages. Colour, glass texture and varied stained glass techniques are considered as part of the design process.

What you'll learn

  • Design workable patterns for stained glass leaded lights
  • Cut and shape glass for panel construction
  • Cut, shape and solder lead
  • Use colour and glass texture within stained glass designs
  • Apply different stained glass techniques to panel designs
