Stained Glass with Glass Engraving Tuesday Morning

About this course

Learners design workable patterns for leaded-light panels, practise cutting glass and lead, and assemble and solder a small panel before developing a second design. Those with some previous knowledge can work on their own panel designs with guidance from the teacher. The course also introduces glass engraving with diamond cutting discs, either on a stained glass panel or a suitable three-dimensional glass piece. Teaching combines demonstrations with group instruction and one-to-one guidance at different stages of the process.

Is this course right for you?

The course is designed for complete beginners and for learners with some previous knowledge who want further guidance or practice. Teaching combines demonstrations with individual panel work, alongside group and one-to-one instruction. Most processes involve standing.

Before you go

• Sturdy shoes, boots or trainers must be worn; open sandals are not suitable.
• Learners should wear old clothes or bring an apron.
• A4 sketchbook or notebook, pencils, coloured pencils or pens, and a marker pen are suggested.
• All required tools and safety equipment are supplied.
• Glass, lead and solder are available in class at cost price.
• The studio has lift access.
