Stained Glass with Upcycling Tuesday Morning

About this course

The course introduces the process of making stained-glass leaded-light panels, from developing workable designs to selecting and cutting glass, shaping lead and soldering the finished structure. Recycled and found glass are included, with attention to how colour and texture affect a design. Teaching combines discussion of examples, demonstrations and practical work. Participants first make a small panel to practise the techniques, then design a second panel for development during the rest of the course. Guidance is provided in groups and through one-to-one support at different stages.

The course is suitable for complete beginners as well as learners with some previous knowledge who want further guidance or practice. It involves practical studio work, with participants standing for most processes and receiving a combination of group and individual guidance.

Before you go

• Wear sturdy shoes, boots or trainers. Open sandals are not suitable.
• Bring an apron.
