About this course

The class introduces Chen-style Taijiquan through warm-up and stretching, standing qigong (zhanzhuang), silk reeling (chansigong), breathing and form practice. Learners work through the Chen 19 Form or sections of Chen Lao Jia, while advanced students may also study Xinjia. Teaching combines tutor demonstration and guided practice, with opportunities for questions, exploration and feedback in small practice groups. Notes, videos and homework are available through the college’s virtual learning environment, alongside regular home practice.
