About this course

The course introduces the 18 movements of Qi Gong through the principles of Tai Chi. Sessions combine slow physical movement with mental focus and harmonised breathing, alongside exploration of Yin and Yang, posture awareness, body structure and Sung, a form of relaxation. Learners also examine how the mind can calm the body and practise meditation. Teaching is based on guided activity, with progress assessed through tutor observation and individual feedback.

The course is labelled Beginner (A1) and is intended as an introduction to Tai Chi and Qi Gong. It involves gentle, flowing movement, focused attention, breathing practice and meditation, so learners should be reasonably mobile and able to take part in movement-based activities.

Before you go

  • Wear loose clothing for comfort.
  • Flat-soled, flexible shoes with good grip are recommended.
  • Tai Chi shoes are optional; learners can ask the tutor for recommendations.
