About this course
The course follows the construction of a tailored waistcoat from pattern preparation through to final finishing. Participants work with traditional tailoring methods, including laying the pattern, adding inlay, preparing and cutting fabric, canvassing, making pockets, inserting lining and applying finishing techniques. Teaching combines demonstrations with practical work across the construction process. Alongside showing how each stage is completed, the course explains the purpose of the processes used in handcraft tailoring.

- Apply canvassing and pressing techniques within waistcoat construction.
- Construct tailored pockets and attach lining.

Is this course right for you?
The course is intended for learners developing beyond fundamental sewing and tailoring techniques, including those interested in handcraft tailoring for personal development or bespoke tailoring work. Participants need to be comfortable using a sewing machine and able to use an open-ended thimble. Basic tailoring stitches may be taught if learners can commit time to practising them.
