Tap Dance Classes - Beginners

About this course

The course introduces the basic sounds and terminology of tap before progressing to simple steps performed on the spot and while travelling. Learners work on rhythm, light and shade, posture, spatial awareness and isolating parts of the body to shape movement. Exercises cover fundamental footwork combinations, coordination between the feet, arms and head, and basic tap-style drills. The course also includes short choreography from musical theatre and beginner rhythm tap, giving participants opportunities to perform the material they have practised.
