About this course

The workshop introduces responsible approaches to teaching and guiding movement. Participants examine posture, alignment, warm-ups, mobility and potential risks, then use simple practical activities to observe movement and practise clear verbal instructions. Guided reflection considers how activities can be adapted for different bodies, abilities and needs, with emphasis on inclusion, accessibility and appropriate effort. The course focuses on safe, adaptable movement teaching rather than performance or intensity, and is relevant to movement-based health roles including fitness, Pilates, yoga, wellbeing and bodywork.

What you'll learn

  • Observe and describe basic movement patterns, including posture, alignment and ease of movement.
  • Give clear verbal instructions for a short warm-up or mobility exercise with attention to safety and inclusion.
  • Identify ways to adapt movement activities for different bodies, abilities or support needs.
  • Recognise potential risks and consider appropriate responses during simple movement activities.

Is this course right for you?

The workshop is intended for people exploring movement-based careers, those curious about guiding physical activity, and practitioners already working in related fields. Its all-level format includes simple practical activities and reflection, with safety and adaptability prioritised over performance or intensity.

  • Relevant to fitness, Pilates, yoga, wellbeing and bodywork contexts.
  • Includes practical participation in movement activities rather than theory alone.
