About this course

Participants construct a handmade album combining cloth and paper pages, with a spaced spine, stitched decorative covers and tied tape or other fastenings. The format allows each person to adapt the album to their own work or purpose, such as storing textile samples and ideas. Group and individual demonstrations introduce the basic processes, while tutor and artist-made examples show possible variations. Discussion and shared ideas form part of the workshop, with technical notes provided for repeating the processes at home.

What you'll learn

  • Construct an album combining pages of different sizes and material qualities
  • Bind pages into a spaced spine
  • Stitch decorative covers securely into the book
  • Attach tie tapes or other optional fastenings
